What's the deal…?

The 12-Month Sustainability Challenge

Getting more environmentally friendly one month at a time…

What’s the deal with this “challenge”?

I want desperately to be a good eco-citizen, to live sustainably and make as low of an impact as possible for someone in the grossly crowded sprawling city of Los Angles. A search for how to live more sustainably offers a ton of listicles with suggestions from “recycle” duh, to “choose to have a smaller family” um… ok, thanks?

So I’ve decided to embark on my own 12-month sustainability challenge. Each month I will devote my well-intentioned flawed self to a particular action that can slow the shit storm on earth that the human race has caused.  I will do my best to be my best with each challenge, and to be my most honest about how fucking hard they are to actually pull off. I will not post pictures of my perfect minimalist home as I wipe my counters down with beautiful artisan-crafted elephant feces toweletts or whatever.  The only way we’re gonna make it through this spot in our history is to be as honest as possible with each other about how much it all SUCKS. Take public transpo? Stop using Amazon? Five minute showers? Have we evolved for nothing?  We are going to have to change or the earth will change for us, and not in a cute way. Please join me, however you want- with support, with your own challenge, with suggestions, articles, even with horrible trollish comments. Let’s make it a party!
